RHINOPLASTY has different kinds:
NOSE SURGERY CAN BE DEVIDED INTO SEVERAL TYPES DEPENDING ON THE PATIENT’S GOALS:
Reduction rhinopplasty is one of the most commonly used types of rhinoplasty to alter the shape and size of the nose.
This technique can give a patient a nose which is more proportionate to his/her other facial features. Specially, this type of surgery can affect the nose bridge, long nasal tip, and extremely irregular nostrils. the surgeon removes some bone and cartilage of the nose to achieve the desired result. To reduce the size of nostrils, the doctor may require the alar reduction technique. During this process, the surgeon removes small pieces of tissue from the area where the nostrils reach the cheeks.
The type of AUGMENTATION RHINOPLASTY
Augmentation rhinoplasty is another type of rhinoplsty. During this surgery, the surgeon uses the bone or tissue grafts for the nasal tip or bridge. In most cases, he/she uses cartilage of other parts of the nose, often nasal septum. However, if a patient does not have enough tissue in this area, the surgeon may use thigh bone, cartilage of other areas, synthetic material, or other biological tissues.
The Rhinoplasty after accident or injury
If a patient has a nose injury, rhinoplasty after injury may be performed. This technique can affect both the nose appearance and function. Doctors may use this technique for straightening and repairing nasal septum.
RECONSTRUCTIVE NOSE SURGERY
Patients may require revision rhinoplasty if they lose all or part of their nose as a result of an accident, skin cancer, or a serious illness. During the treatment process, a rhinoplasty surgeon reconstructs the nose using skin grafts, flap techniques, and other advanced methods.
The RHINOPLASTY for teenagers
In most cases, doctors recommend that teenagers wait until their nose growth is completed before undergoing rhinoplasty surgery. However, there are some exceptions, especially in cases of trauma or breathing problems. When young patients undergo rhinoplasty, the doctor should provide special care to protect subtle features of the nose.
RHINOPLASTY For adults
Although the nose stops growing at around 16 years old, its shape may change over time. Nasal tip may turn downwards or nasal passages may be tightened and cause breathing problems. So the doctor can improve these issues and also makes the patient look younger through this type of surgery.
THERE ARE TWO TECHNIQUES FOR RHINOPLASTY:
- Open Rhinoplasty
- Closed Rhinoplasty
Some details about OPEN RHINOPLASTY
The open or external rhinoplasty approach uses a few hidden internal incisions and adds a small incision that is placed on the tissue that separates the nostrils (this area is called the columella). With the addition of this visible incision, the nasal skin can be folded upward to provide easier access to the bones, tissue, and cartilage inside the nose during surgery. This usually allows the surgeon to operate in a more delicate manner.
Most surgeons prefer to use the open approach in complex cases, such as cleft-lip rhinoplasty, severely deviated noses or severe post-rhinoplasty deformities and also in more routine primary rhinoplasty in which tip modification is desired. This would include treatment of a bulbous tip, over-projected tip, pinched tip and droopy tip.
This technique usually results in minimal visible scarring. The biggest drawbacks of open rhinoplasty are that the procedure typically is longer and more invasive than closed rhinoplasty. Recovery times also may be a bit lengthier.
Some details ABOUT CLOSED RHINOPLASTY
In the closed or endonasal rhinoplasty approach all of the surgical incisions are made inside the nostrils. In this way no part of the incision can be seen externally and a visible scar is avoided. However, since the right and left nostril incisions remain disconnected, repositioning of the skin is difficult and the entire operation is performed through narrow surgical openings with reduced visibility.
Considered less invasive and usually shorter in duration than an open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty is best suited to address features that are more easily corrected, especially when the tip of the nose is well-shaped.
Patients may experience less swelling as well as a shorter and easier recovery period following surgery. The biggest downside to closed rhinoplasty is that is the incisions may cause the nasal structure to weaken, which can compromise its shape in the future. Also, given the limited access that it allows surgeons to cartilage and tissue, usually only less delicate changes can be made.
The risks while the surgery
When it comes to understanding the risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty surgery, it is important to consider those of any surgery, as well as the dangers of the specific procedure. The potential rhinoplasty risks associated with all surgeries include:
- Adverse Reaction to Anesthesia
Risks that are specific to rhinoplasty iran include:
Scarring at the base of the nose
Bursting of small blood vessels on the surface of the skin
Permanent nerve damage
Under-or over- correction that necessitates revision rhinoplasty.
Note that choosing a qualified rhinoplasty surgeon can significantly reduce the health risks associated with rhinoplasty. You should use your consultation as an opportunity to ask questions about the procedure, including its risks, benefits, and side effects. In addition, following your surgeon’s instructions will help to avoid health complications.
